About the course

A degree in Urban Planning equips students to address critical challenges facing cities, such as climate change, rising sea levels, population growth, and economic shifts. This course leverages diverse expertise to develop essential skills for shaping sustainable urban environments, emphasizing digital and data competencies for smart cities. Through hands-on experiences like live case studies and field trips, students connect theory to practice, exploring historical urban development while proposing innovative solutions for healthier, vibrant, and safer communities. The multidisciplinary approach fosters collaboration with fields like architecture and engineering, preparing graduates for real-world planning roles. The BSc and MPlan programs share the same curriculum for the first three years, with transfer possible based on performance. The BSc focuses on foundational principles of spatial planning and placemaking, while the MPlan extends to specialized areas like transport planning or advanced smart city analysis in the final year, culminating in an integrated project. Assessment combines coursework (75%) and exams (25%), with field trips included in tuition fees.
