Our History and International Relations BA (Hons) is a joint honours degree offering equal emphasis on both fields, enabling students to develop a broad range of skills while allowing specialisation as they progress. The history component spans from 1600 to the present, focusing on modern eras across Britain, Europe, North America, the British Empire, Soviet Russia, South Asia, and China. It begins with broad surveys, advances to country-specific or thematic studies, and culminates in specialised case studies. The International Relations element explores how global factors have addressed political, economic, and social challenges since the Second World War.For a full list of modules, please consult the 'What You'll Study' section on our website. Assessments vary across the degree: History includes source analysis, autobiographical entries, historiographical debates, presentations, and creative or public history projects; International Relations features journalistic pieces, book reviews, film analyses, and political simulations. All students complete a final-year dissertation on a chosen topic.
