Our English Literature degree offers an excellent opportunity to explore texts from the Renaissance to the present day, providing a comprehensive survey of literary history with substantial flexibility in module choices during the second and third years. Students will develop critical skills in interpreting works across genres using various theoretical approaches, allowing them to tailor the programme to their interests. Core modules introduce essential concepts in poetic language, literary theory, narrative forms, and historical periods, while optional modules like 'Introduction to Film' and 'How to Do Things with Digital Texts' explore literature in the digital era.The degree covers major authors and periods, including Renaissance and Victorian literature, alongside lesser-known writers and genres that illuminate key themes. Assessment methods encompass essays, presentations, research projects, and a final dissertation, with no exams. This diverse range of evaluations builds versatile communication skills and professional competencies to enhance employability.
