Chemistry, often termed the "central science," provides profound insights into our surroundings and gains enhanced potency through integration with advanced computing and data science. The BSc Chemistry with Computing programme equips students with essential skills in both disciplines, fostering a vital skillset for contemporary laboratories. Technological advancements in computing have revolutionised chemical research and industry, emphasising computation in areas like materials design, in-silico drug development, and data analysis.This degree offers a robust foundation in organic, inorganic, physical, and analytical chemistry, complemented by computer programming and techniques in computational chemistry from the second year. Taught by experts from respected Chemistry and Computer Science departments, students access state-of-the-art facilities in STEMLab and computing labs. With strong pastoral support, peer mentoring, and research-active staff, the programme prepares graduates for careers in chemistry, science, or further study, such as PhDs. Assessment includes examinations and coursework, like reports and presentations, with BSc classification based on Years 2 and 3 marks in a 40:60 ratio.
