Automotive companies are prioritizing new materials development to enhance fuel efficiency, reduce vehicle weight, comply with environmental regulations, and deliver customer value. Automotive Materials has thus become a critical field, requiring vehicle fabrics that balance aesthetics, functionality, safety, and cost.Loughborough University's Automotive Materials degree integrates core materials engineering with industry-specific training, covering scientific, engineering, and design aspects of materials' structure, properties, processing, and performance. Students access state-of-the-art labs, learn from leading academics, and undertake a third-year research project, potentially with industry partners. Backed by BAE Systems, Jaguar Land Rover, Ford, Rolls-Royce, and others, it blends materials expertise, vehicle design, management, and global awareness for career preparation. BEng and MEng share the first two years; MEng advances technical and management topics in years three and four, with transfer possible up to year two end if criteria are met.
