About the course

This programme enhances your comprehension of the physical laws governing the universe, particularly in astrophysics and cosmology, drawing from our world-leading research in space science, observational astrophysics, and theoretical cosmology. In Year 1, you build a foundation in physics fundamentals through core modules and hands-on laboratory work with advanced equipment. Year 2 explores astrophysics in greater depth, including cosmology, astronomy, and solar system science. In Years 3 and 4, you select from a range of optional modules, with pathways available in Cosmology or Space Physics to guide your focus. You will undertake a research project in Year 3 and an independent MPhys project in Year 4, alongside master's-level modules. Flexibility allows changes in choices or switching degrees after Year 1, as all physics programmes share core modules.
