Our Physical Geography programme explores the processes and patterns in the natural environment, including the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, and geosphere. Students engage in practical work within state-of-the-art facilities at Lancaster Environment Centre, guided by world-renowned lecturers. The degree emphasises hands-on learning, allowing you to investigate past environmental changes, current processes, and future predictions, while tailoring your studies through a wide range of modules.Located in an ideal setting between rural landscapes and cities like Liverpool and Manchester, Lancaster offers unique opportunities for field trips to areas such as the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District, and international sites like Switzerland and Croatia. In the first year, you gain a broad introduction to key themes alongside other subjects. The second year develops skills in spatial analysis and Geographic Information Systems, with options in hydrology and field trips to Spain. Finally, the third year culminates in a supervised dissertation, potentially with business collaboration, and further fieldwork options.
