Our neuroscience degree offers a comprehensive understanding of the nervous system, its influence on human behavior, and disorders such as schizophrenia, autism, mood disorders, and dementia. You will explore how the brain and nervous system integrate to process the world, generate emotions, sensations, and behaviors, providing biological and psychological foundations for investigating bodily functions and advancing treatments through recent scientific breakthroughs.The program includes a year in industry during Year 3, building practical skills and career insights, followed by an independent research project in Year 4 alongside research-active academics. Starting with core principles in neuroscience, pharmacology, genetics, and psychology in Year 1, you will advance to themes like fundamental and translational neuroscience, cognitive psychology, molecular biology, and drug development in Years 2 and 4. Hands-on training utilizes state-of-the-art facilities, including fluorescent imaging, confocal microscopes, EEG, and TMS, fostering transferable skills in experimental design, data analysis, teamwork, and communication. Graduates join the British Neuroscience Association and pursue careers in academia, pharmaceuticals, health, and biotechnology, or further study.
