Mechatronic Engineering, MEng (Hons)

This multidisciplinary, professionally accredited MEng programme offers hands-on experience and specialised knowledge in product design and integrated systems, paving the way to Chartered Engineer status. Mechatronic engineering integrates mechanical, electronic, and computer disciplines, as seen in robotics and self-driving cars. Established in 1984, the programme equips students with a well-rounded foundation through a common first year, followed by interdisciplinary modules in mechanical, electronic engineering, and control systems, allowing flexibility in module selection.In the second year, students engage in project management by designing and testing mobile robots, such as those for hazardous waste transport. Options include a year in industry with placements at multinational firms or SMEs. The third year focuses on advanced technical topics, research insights, and a dissertation, complemented by engineering management training. The fourth year features real-world projects and a major group endeavour, preparing graduates for professional roles. Accredited by the IET and IMechE, the programme provides access to cutting-edge facilities to enhance employability.
