Mechatronic Engineering, BEng (Hons)

This multidisciplinary, professionally accredited BEng programme offers hands-on experience and specialised knowledge in product design and integrated systems, focusing on mechatronic engineering—the integration of mechanical, electronic, and computer engineering for applications like robotics and self-driving cars. Established in 1984, it provides a strong foundation through a common first year for all engineering students, followed by interdisciplinary modules in mechanical and electronic engineering, with flexibility to select areas of interest. In the second year, students engage in project management and team-based tasks, such as designing and testing mobile robots.Advancing to the third year, the programme emphasises advanced technical material, research-driven modules, and a dissertation project to hone analytical, programming, and design skills. It includes an Engineering Management module to prepare for leadership roles. Accredited by the IET and IMechE, the course enhances employability through optional industry placements and access to cutting-edge facilities, delivered by world-class academics.
