Geography and Economics, BA (Hons)

Pursuing a combined degree in Economics and Geography at Lancaster University offers access to expert teaching from the Lancaster University Management School, consistently ranked among the UK's top ten, and the Geography Department within the award-winning Lancaster Environment Centre.In Economics, students explore the production, distribution, and consumption of wealth, alongside contemporary global issues. In Geography, they examine the impacts of these issues on geopolitics, sustainable development, environmental conservation, and globalisation. The program starts with modules like Principles of Economics and Society and Space in Human Geography. The second year covers Intermediate Microeconomics, Geographies of Political Economy, and Environment and Society. In the final year, students undertake a supervised extended essay on a chosen topic related to both fields, applying research, analytical, and academic writing skills developed over the degree.
