About this courseMental health nursing is a highly rewarding career where you can make a real difference. This course leads to registration as a mental health nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).You’ll learn first-hand from mental health service users and carers, through our partnerships with service user and carer-led organisations.You’ll have the opportunity to apply your learning in a wide range of placements. Our placement providers include South West London and St George’s Mental Health Trust, Surrey and Borders Partnership Trust, South London and Maudsley (SLAM) NHS Foundation Trust, Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust and independent hospitals, including the Priory Group.This course will be updated to reflect the new NMC standards.Future SkillsEmbedded within every course curriculum and throughout the whole Kingston experience, Future Skills will play a role in shaping you to become a future-proof graduate, providing you with the skills most valued by employers such as problem-solving, digital competency, and adaptability.As you progress through your degree, you'll learn to navigate, explore and apply these graduate skills, learning to demonstrate and articulate to employers how future skills give you the edge.At Kingston University, we're not just keeping up with change, we're creating it.Career opportunitiesOur graduates work as mental health staff nurses, forensic staff nurses, research nurses, psychiatric liaison nurses and in child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS).

Assessment methods include; essays, exams, presentations and reports and clinical skills assessed in our simulation suites and by practice supervisors/assessors in practice placements.All our students have their own identified personal tutor who provides personal, professional and academic support.
