The BA Fine Art (Extension Degree) at Goldsmiths is designed for students from outside the UK, enabling independent artistic practice and idea development. Fine art encompasses contemporary art-making and study, including sculpture, painting, video, performance, sound, installation, drawing, art writing, or other media, where conceptual ideas are as vital as the chosen medium. Students engage in a dynamic, critical, interdisciplinary environment, building technical and conceptual skills, critical judgment, and foundational practices, with English language support as needed. This small, friendly programme emphasises one-to-one tuition and small-group teaching. From day one, students gain dedicated studio space and access to specialist facilities. Successful completion allows direct progression to Year 1 of the BA Fine Art or BA Fine Art & History of Art. Staff are practising artists, curators, and writers who contextualise student work within current cultural debates. Goldsmiths alumni have earned over 30 Turner Prize nominations and 8 wins since 1990.
