About the course

This course offers an in-depth exploration of how the human body functions during exercise, emphasizing the role of sport and physical activity in promoting health. It equips students with a strong scientific foundation in human physiology, psychology, anatomy, biomechanics, and biochemistry, preparing them for careers in industry, professional sport, health, and education. Through hands-on teaching methods like problem-based learning, case studies, and laboratory sessions, students develop practical skills in exercise prescription, performance analysis, and communication, while gaining real-world experience in applied sport and exercise science.Key benefits include access to specialized facilities such as biomechanics labs and gait analysis tracks, instruction from experienced staff with industry connections, and strong employer links with sports teams, schools, and NHS services. The curriculum spans foundational modules in year one, advanced applications in year two, and a final-year research project, with assessments via tests, essays, presentations, and projects.
