The Brunel Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences BSc features a placement year between the second and third years, designed for students interested in applying sports science to optimise athletic development, performance, and overall health and wellbeing. This programme explores the physiological, biomechanical, and psychological functions of the human body, equipping students to develop effective training methods, mental strategies, and nutritional approaches. It examines how the mind and body respond to the rigours of sport and exercise under intense conditions.Supported by world-class facilities—including advanced physiology, biomechanics, and psychology laboratories; an indoor athletics centre; a 400m track; and various sports courts, pitches, and fitness areas—students can undertake modules such as Physical Activity, Health and Wellbeing, and Fundamentals of Human Anatomy with an Introduction to Biomechanics. Assessment involves critical reviews, lab reports, case studies, presentations, exams, an e-portfolio for professional development, and a final-year dissertation. The course is endorsed by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES).
