Brunel's Electronic and Electrical Engineering (Computer Systems) BEng is a contemporary programme designed to provide essential knowledge and skills for careers and research in electronic engineering, with a focus on embedded systems. It fosters an understanding of engineering, scientific, and economic trade-offs in embedded system design and implementation, while offering hands-on experience with architectural techniques, design methodologies, and applications such as FPGAs and reconfigurable computing. Students will explore core engineering topics including design, structures, materials, fluid mechanics, electronics, mathematics, and technical drawing, alongside specialisation in computer systems to enable the design and implementation of systems based on scientific and economic considerations. The programme provides access to state-of-the-art facilities, including computer, electronics, power, and control laboratories, as well as industry-standard engineering software in dedicated clusters. Accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), it meets the academic requirements for Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status and can be completed full-time over three years or four years with a placement. Key modules include Digital Systems Design and Reliability Engineering, Embedded Systems, Artificial Intelligence Systems, and Advanced Electronics, with a full list available on the university website.
