About the course

The Brunel Economics BSc provides a comprehensive foundation in economic theory alongside practical skills for application in business, industrial, financial, or government settings. Students explore market operations from microeconomic and macroeconomic viewpoints, examining how trade and business priorities influence societal functions. Emphasis is placed on financial markets, banking, and introductory accounting, while developing analytical, quantitative, statistical, and computing abilities to forecast responses to events, trends, and market behaviours. This includes training in statistics, econometrics, and data tools such as SAS, EViews, Bloomberg, Reuters, and STATA.The programme offers flexible study options: a three-year full-time route or a four-year option with a professional placement between years two and three for real-world experience. Students can customise their final year to focus on specific interests. Accredited by ACCA and CIMA, the degree grants exemptions for chartered accountancy pursuits. Graduates acquire transferable skills highly sought by employers, opening doors to careers and further studies in economics, business, and finance. Typical modules include Financial Markets, Microeconomic Principles, Corporate Investment, and Money & Banking; for a full list, visit the Brunel website.
