As digital information proliferates, institutions in finance and medicine depend on scalable, adaptable software systems. The Computer Science (Software Engineering) BSc specialises in building high-quality, maintainable solutions using techniques like testing, service-oriented architectures, and refactoring. Students develop web and mobile applications, gain expertise in algorithms, design, programming, testing, and team-based project management, while balancing theory with practical large-scale software development, reuse, and integration. Flexible module choices allow transfers between Computer Science and Business Computing up to Year 2, and specialisms up to Year 3.One-third of each year is project-based, with team projects in Years 1-2, an individual final-year project, and showcasing at the Made in Brunel event. An optional year-long placement between Years 2-3 boosts employability, with graduates joining Accenture, Microsoft, and Barclays. Accredited by the British Computer Society for CITP, IEng, and partial CEng, the programme holds Athena SWAN Bronze status, supporting women via mentoring.
