In today's interconnected world, networks underpin much of professional life, demanding robust security and privacy measures alongside cloud computing. The BSc Computer Science (Network Computing) provides a strong foundation in computer science and systems, specializing in network computing. Students learn to specify, design, code, modify, and test software—from web to mobile solutions—using commercial development environments and database tools. They gain expertise in algorithms, design, programming, testing, architectures, and project management, fostering reflective practices in team-based development. The flexible programme allows module selection, transfers between Computer Science and Business Computing up to Year 2, and specialisms by Year 3. One-third of each year is project-based, culminating in an individual final-year project showcased at the Made in Brunel event. A optional placement year enhances employability, with graduates joining firms like Accenture and Microsoft. Accredited by the British Computer Society for CITP, IEng, and partial CEng, it supports BCS membership. The department holds Athena SWAN Bronze status, with mentoring for women in STEM.
