About the course

Efficiently processing vast datasets is crucial for businesses to identify trends and make informed decisions. Artificial intelligence (AI) enables this by unlocking insights from big data. Brunel’s Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) BSc equips graduates with in-demand skills in computer science foundations, software development—from web to mobile—and AI techniques for solving complex problems in gaming, finance, and healthcare. Students gain expertise in intelligent software, machine learning paradigms, and innovative applications. The flexible programme allows gradual specialisation, with transfers possible up to Year 2 and specialisms by Year 3. One-third of each year focuses on projects, including team builds, a final-year individual project, and showcasing at the Made in Brunel event. A optional year-long placement enhances employability, with alumni at firms like Accenture, Microsoft, and Barclays. Accredited by the British Computer Society for CITP, IEng, and partial CEng, it supports professional membership. The department holds Athena SWAN Bronze status, with a Women in Engineering mentoring scheme.
