Elevate your understanding of culture and society through Brunel's Anthropology and Sociology BSc, gaining practical and analytical skills for a dynamic world. Anthropology explores contemporary challenges like multiculturalism, identity politics, racism, ethnic nationalism, family dynamics, religious conflict, gender, and fundamental human questions such as cross-cultural commonalities and differences. Sociology, its companion discipline, examines the foundations of social life and key issues including inequality, racism, globalisation, migration, and the media's role in shaping perceptions, such as portrayals of poverty and celebrity influence. This four-year programme features cutting-edge research from lecturers on global and local topics, integrated into your studies—such as youth and motorcycles in Rwanda or cosmetic tourism. It includes a one-year placement option, with opportunities for fieldwork worldwide, from refugees in Athens to community groups in London. Around half of anthropology students undertake international placements in diverse locations like India or South Africa, or UK-based roles with organisations such as Amnesty International. Sample modules include Power, Inequality and Society; Ethnicity, Migration and Identity; and Digital Culture.
