The Anthropology and Sociology BSc at Brunel University advances your understanding of culture and society, equipping you with a broad range of practical and analytical skills for a dynamic world. Anthropology examines contemporary issues like multiculturalism, identity politics, racism, gender, and religious conflict, while addressing fundamental questions about human nature and cross-cultural commonalities. Sociology explores the foundations of social life, including inequality, globalisation, migration, and the influence of media on culture, such as portrayals of poverty and celebrity.Brunel's program benefits from lecturers' cutting-edge research on global and local issues, integrated into teaching. This four-year course includes options for two six-month placements or one year-long placement, enabling fieldwork anywhere, from refugees in Athens to community groups in London. Around half of students undertake international placements in locations like India or South Africa.
