About the course

This CIMA-accredited Business and Management course delves into the essential role of data and figures in driving business success, preparing students for diverse career paths in sectors like finance and beyond. Participants gain a robust foundation in business concepts, problem-solving, and accounting skills, with options for a 10-month or 10-week work placement to apply knowledge in real-world settings. The program fosters innovation and practical experience, supported by a hands-on Business School that has seen alumni secure roles with leading organizations such as IBM and the NHS.The curriculum spans three years: Year One covers business environments, economics, and data management; Year Two focuses on internal operations, creativity, and problem-solving; and Year Three emphasizes management accounting, sustainability, strategy, and a personal business research project. Assessment includes presentations, projects, exams, and reports, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of skills. A Professional Placement Year offers 9-13 months of external work experience, with bursaries up to £1,500 to support costs.

What you will learn

In Year One, you'll gain a broad understanding of today’s business environment – from the context that organisations operate in through to trends in economic thinking and the importance of data in business. You'll look at topics such as organisations and the business environment; economics and globalisation; managing data. Your second year will focus on the inner workings of businesses. You'll use business techniques to solve problems and start developing the skills that employers look for. You'll cover key themes including creativity and innovation in business. In your final year develop and explore your business learning, with a focus on management accounting. You'll undertake an in-depth business research project in accounting. You’ll also have a chance to set up a business on your own or with fellow students. Other topics to explore include: managing sustainability; organisational strategy; new trends in management; creating and hosting festivals and events; and strategic human resource management.
