Reptiles and amphibians are increasingly valued as model organisms in zoology, captivating study subjects, and priorities for conservation amid declining populations. This necessitates a new cadre of professionals equipped with specialized knowledge in these animals alongside a broad zoological foundation. Our course integrates traditional zoology with a focus on amphibian and reptile biology, diversity, and conservation practices, offering opportunities for a herpetology field trip to Arizona in the second year and local activities in North Wales.Students receive comprehensive zoological training, encompassing pure and applied aspects of animal life, alongside hands-on laboratory and field experiences that build transferable skills like data analysis, teamwork, and IT proficiency. As a UK leader in herpetology research, we provide access to modern facilities, nearby natural habitats, and instruction from international experts in areas such as evolution, ecology, and genomics. Options for a placement or international experience year are available, and a foundation year pathway exists for those needing additional qualifications.
