Veterinary Science More about Veterinary Science

If you love watching episodes of vets helping animals on Animal Planet and have an inherent love of these “simple” creatures, you can do the same by studying Veterinary Science.

Veterinary Science instructs students on a range of scientific disciplines related to health and disease control in animals. In addition to teaching foundational classes in medical topics, vet programs train students in the clinical skills needed to diagnose and treat injuries and illnesses in animals.

Veterinary Science is challenging if you think that this is a pushover! This is because a student studying to become a doctor for humans just has to learn one body with two variations: human male and human female. Contrast this with Veterinary students that have to learn the two versions (male and female) of many animal classes ranging from domestic animals like dogs, cats, fishes and birds; livestock like cows and sheeps; zoo animals; and finally competitive race horses. Beyond the general study of Veterinary Science you can choose to specialize in Canine/Feline Practice, Exotic Companion Mammal Practice, surgery, and internal medication

Adding to the challenge, while humans may give you feedback on how they are feeling, animals cannot. You will need to find out the problem by relying on physical examination, lab tests, x-rays, fecal tests, and other testing procedures to help these lovable creatures.
