Illustration, BA (Hons)

The BA (Hons) Illustration programme fosters the development of a unique personal visual language, with problem-solving through drawing and making at its core. Students explore diverse media, enhance their understanding of illustration traditions via theoretical studies, and build professional awareness through individual experimentation. Access to exceptional facilities, including industry-standard digital studios and production workshops, supports innovation and individualism. Participants engage with live briefs and national/international competitions to test their work against industry standards.Located in Bristol's vibrant City Campus, which includes acclaimed arts centres like Spike Island, Arnolfini, and Watershed, the programme offers inspiration and collaboration. Lectures, seminars, and visits from leading practitioners keep students abreast of contemporary practices. Graduates can showcase their portfolios at the final-year degree show, opening doors to careers as freelance illustrators, film directors, set designers, art directors, animators, and more.
