87.9% of our Engineering research outputs were assessed as world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021).Sustainability is increasingly vital in the automotive industry, with manufacturers adopting eco-friendly processes for vehicle development and production. At Sussex, our course in sustainable automotive engineering equips you with core knowledge in materials, manufacturing, mechanics, and circuits; skills in CAD, programming, and numerical modelling; and expertise in low-emission propulsion, advanced vehicle technologies, electrical drives, and dynamics. Research from our Dynamics, Control, and Vehicle group directly informs teaching, covering on-board diagnostics, intelligent controllers, and autonomous vehicles. Study in state-of-the-art Future Technologies Labs, a manufacturing facility with CNC machines and 3D printers, and join Formula Student to design and race an electric single-seater. Supported by academic advisers, mentors, and industry links, graduates are primed for automotive challenges, including sustainability.
