About the course

At the University of Sussex, 87.9% of our Engineering research outputs were rated world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021). This Sustainable Automotive Engineering course addresses the growing importance of sustainability in the automotive sector, equipping students with essential knowledge in materials, manufacturing, mechanics, electrical circuits, CAD modelling, programming, and low-emission technologies like vehicle dynamics and electric drive systems. Integrated with cutting-edge research from the Dynamics, Control, and Vehicle group, the program offers hands-on experience in advanced labs, including Future Technologies facilities with CNC machines and 3D printers, as well as Formula Student projects for designing electric racing cars.Students receive support from academic advisers and mentors, plus industry links for enhanced employability. An optional placement year provides real-world experience, with careers team assistance in applications and interviews. The course is accredited and available as a four- or five-year MEng option. Located on a scenic campus near Brighton, Sussex fosters innovation across research and education, preparing graduates to tackle automotive challenges.
