About the course

Our BSc and MPhys programmes provide a flexible selection of modules spanning theoretical and applied physics, drawing on the expertise of our distinguished academics. Key highlights include award-winning Professional Training placements: BSc students can undertake paid industry placements for practical experience, while MPhys students engage in a year-long, masters-level research placement in world-leading groups or international partners. Additionally, we emphasise undergraduate research through paid summer placements (8-10 weeks) in our research groups or network partners, along with grants for innovation, conferences, or business ideas. In these programmes, you will explore core topics such as particle, nuclear, and atomic physics, alongside optional modules, with the flexibility to switch courses in the first year. Hands-on learning is enhanced via integrated research years, Professional Training options, and access to our recently refurbished £2.7m radiation laboratories for experiments related to nuclear and particle physics. Students may pursue a BSc or the integrated MPhys, which includes advanced masters-level modules after a research year, boosting employability. For full module details, visit our website.
