About the course

This course offers a comprehensive study of English, involving the reading of texts from diverse literary periods and debates on key issues like identity, race, and gender. Students collaborate with world-leading researchers, novelists, and poets, engaging in innovative approaches that uniquely blend critical and creative methods. It develops essential employable skills in written and verbal communication, analysis of complex ideas, and creative thinking, which are highly valued by employers. However, note that the BA does not qualify for legal profession entry; for professional law qualifications, pursue the LLB program.Ranked first in Scotland for English and top 10 in the UK for Law (The Times/Sunday Times University Guide 2024), this program is part of a flexible BA Humanities and Social Sciences degree. The standard BA lasts three years, while the Honours version extends to four, allowing exploration of various subjects and inclusion of credit-bearing work placements in the third or fourth year. Applicants should submit only one UCAS code, and the course does not award qualified teacher status (QTS).
