About the course

This course offers an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge through community placements, enhancing employability while developing understanding of education systems in Scotland and beyond. Joint Honours Education graduates can pursue postgraduate teaching routes via the PGDE. Our BA degrees in Humanities and Social Sciences begin with a broad base, allowing students to study three subjects in Year 1, including their chosen areas. Career paths include roles in law, psychology, journalism, the Civil Service, and Museums Service, though studying law in the BA does not qualify for legal entry; for that, follow the LLB programme.Ranked in the UK Top 10 for both Law (The Times/Sunday Times, 2024) and Education (Complete University Guide, 2024), this flexible BA programme spans Humanities, Social Sciences, and Business, with two of three subjects taught by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The standard BA is three years, while Honours extends to four, enabling exploration of new subjects and skills. Students should submit one UCAS code for any subject combination, and all options include credit-bearing work placements in Years 3 or 4. Note that this course does not award Qualified Teacher Status.
