About the course

Are you captivated by the oceans and the diverse organisms thriving in their depths? Marine Biology explores the adaptations of specialised plants and animals to marine environments, while addressing the effects of human activities on ocean health and sustainable management, in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water. This multi-disciplinary course integrates biology disciplines such as ecology, physical sciences, and environmental studies to examine a habitat covering 71% of Earth’s surface. You will study aquatic system dynamics, organism biology, diving science, and underwater techniques through practical work, fieldwork, and research projects, preparing you for careers in ocean-related fields. Coordinated by Stirling’s Institute of Aquaculture—a globally renowned centre—it has earned the Queen’s Anniversary Prize 2019 for innovative contributions to aquaculture, tackling global hunger through education and research.
