About the course

Our MEng in Software Engineering builds on the BEng programme, equipping you to adapt to emerging technologies and develop innovative software systems. You will gain essential skills in programming, software design, analysis, quality assurance, and project management, with specialised studies in critical systems, web development, advanced databases, and scripting languages. Supported by excellent facilities and expert faculty, graduates are highly sought after for their creative problem-solving and advanced technical expertise. Strong industry connections, including careers fairs and a startup incubator, enhance employability. This four-year programme allows customisation to your interests, starting with core modules in programming, computer systems, and data management. The third year offers optional modules in key software technologies, alongside an individual project from development to evaluation. The final year features a group design project emphasising engineering, management, and industry collaboration. Assessment includes exams, tests, design exercises, programming tasks, presentations, labs, and group work. The degree is accredited by the British Computer Society and the Institution of Engineering and Technology, with affiliation to The Alan Turing Institute.
