About the course

A degree in sociology at our institution launches a career dedicated to meaningful social change. With study abroad options in Brazil, Canada, or China, and opportunities to collaborate via the Social Impact Lab, students join a vibrant community of researchers from the Work Futures Research Centre. The program explores how class, gender, and race shape experiences in the 21st century, addressing global challenges through research-led modules on social theory, inequality, and ethnicity. Supported by quantitative and qualitative methods training, students develop skills to analyze social structures and influence policy at local, national, and global levels.Assessment includes lectures, tutorials, coursework, projects, and independent study, with a progressive breakdown: Year 1 (48% exams, 52% coursework), Year 2 (37% exams, 63% coursework), and Year 3 (15% exams, 13% practical, 72% coursework). Specialized modules and employability workshops ensure alignment with personal and professional goals, preparing graduates for impactful contributions.
