About the course

Mechatronic engineering integrates electrical and mechanical principles to develop solutions for systems involving mechanical components, electrical power, sensing, and control. The University of Southampton's four-year MEng Mechatronic Engineering program, which can include an optional industry year after Year 2 or 3, builds on the BEng curriculum to address industry demands in robotics, flexible manufacturing, and electromechanical systems. This degree equips students with cross-disciplinary skills through core modules in circuits, electronics, programming, and mathematics during the first two years, followed by specialized options and an individual research project in Years 3 and 4.Ranked among the UK's top 5 for Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Southampton offers state-of-the-art facilities, including £8m teaching labs and a £100m clean room complex. Assessment includes exams, tests, design exercises, presentations, and group work. The program is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, meeting requirements for Chartered Engineer status, and supports career development through employer partnerships and initiatives like the Careers Hub.
