About the course

This integrated Master's degree in aerospace systems builds on a broad mechanical engineering foundation. The first two years cover essential principles, including mechanical engineering fundamentals, law, management, systems design, and computing, to guide products from concept to market. In years three and four, students explore advanced topics such as aerothermodynamics, materials, structures, and engineering design, culminating in individual and group projects that address real-world problems. An optional industrial placement year enhances employability through practical experience in engineering organisations. The programme includes modules like introductory engineering design, fluid mechanics, and aircraft propulsion across years one to four. Assessment involves written examinations, coursework, laboratory reports, essays, and projects, with the placement year evaluated via a reflective report. The course is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Engineering Council, and EUR-ACE, providing a pathway to chartered status.
