Biology, BSc (Hons)

This three-year Biology degree at the University of Southampton explores life from molecular and cellular levels to entire organisms and ecosystems, preparing students for diverse careers. Taught by research-active experts, the program offers flexibility through a wide range of modules and access to state-of-the-art facilities in the Life Sciences building. Students gain practical experience via field trips to the UK, Belize, and Spain, partnerships with Marwell Wildlife, study abroad opportunities in Europe or Australasia, and optional industry placements. The course supports careers in medicine, biotechnology, conservation, and environmental fields, with 99% of graduates employed or in further study 15 months after graduation (Graduate Outcomes 2020/2021).The curriculum includes varied modules across years, such as Fundamentals of Biochemistry in Year 1, Evolution in Year 2, and advanced options like Biodiversity and Conservation in Year 3, allowing students to tailor their studies.
