This three-year BEng in Artificial Intelligence develops essential skills in numerical software development, allowing students to apply mathematical principles in designing and implementing AI, machine learning, and data science systems for industries like transport, healthcare, and entertainment. During the first two years you will undertake a series of core modules, for example Algorithms and analysis; High- and Low-level Programming, Mathematics and Systematic design. In your second year, for your Interdisciplinary Group Project, you will develop an intelligent robotic system, working with computer engineering students on co-development of software and supporting hardware. In your third year, you will be taking an advanced Machine Learning module; this module covers content that would traditionally be seen at a Master's level in a CS degree. It follows on from two foundational machine learning modules in year two, which are more representative of the 3rd year content in a CS degree. In your third year, you can also choose from a wide range of optional modules that reflect a specialist area of AI. You will also work on an individual project with the potential to explore cutting edge technologies and innovative applications.
