About the course

Aeronautics and astronautics emphasizes the design and operation of aircraft and spacecraft in Earth's atmosphere and beyond. This course builds foundational knowledge in engineering science, including aerodynamics, propulsion, and fluid dynamics, during the first two years. In later years, students engage in spacecraft system design, individual and group projects, and advanced modules, while considering environmental impacts. An optional industrial placement year provides practical experience to enhance employability. The curriculum includes modules such as Introduction to Aeronautics, Aerodynamics, and Spacecraft Systems Engineering. Assessment involves examinations, coursework, laboratory reports, and projects. The course is accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society and Institution of Mechanical Engineers, offering a pathway to chartered engineer status.
