About the course

The MPAS Physician Associate Studies programme equips students to become fully qualified physician associates, healthcare professionals trained in the medical model to support doctors in diagnosing and treating patients across NHS settings. Delivered by experts from the Schools of Chemistry, Food and Pharmacy, and Biological Sciences, the course emphasizes industry-specific training developed with NHS partners, instruction from experienced medical staff and researchers, and clinical placements in primary and secondary care environments throughout the degree. The programme structure begins with two years building a solid foundation in biological sciences and applying it through diverse placements. In the third year, students undertake extended placements in healthcare settings, while the final year features intensive rotations, typically 4-5 days per week, to ensure readiness for practice.
