About the course

Our BA in Philosophy and International Relations offers a comprehensive exploration of global issues through the lens of philosophical inquiry and international politics. At the University of Reading, you will develop critical thinking skills, logical reasoning, and the ability to evaluate arguments, while gaining insight into key philosophical concepts, texts, and figures. Taught by experts in moral philosophy, mind, language, and non-Western traditions like Indian philosophy, the programme begins with foundational skills in the first year and progresses to advanced topics in subsequent years, including modules on Ethical Argument, Global Philosophies, and issues like oppression and democracy.In parallel, the international relations component provides a solid foundation in political ideas, theory, and contemporary challenges, such as European integration, international terrorism, and Middle East politics. Core modules include Reason and Argument, International Relations, War and Warfare, Great Works in Philosophy, and The Study of Politics.
