Our BSc Medical Science course equips you to advance modern medicine by focusing on the scientific foundations of healthcare, including innovative methods for diagnosing and treating diseases. Covering areas such as biomedical research and clinical care, the programme is delivered by the Schools of Biological Sciences and Chemistry, Food and Pharmacy. It features industry-specific training developed with NHS partners, expert teaching from academics actively involved in disease research and therapy development, and practical placements in healthcare settings to enhance your experience and employability.Tailored pathways allow specialisation in key areas: the Diseases pathway examines genetic and physiological disease bases; the Medical Devices pathway explores technological solutions to medical challenges; and the Clinical and Medical Sciences pathway addresses global epidemics through multidisciplinary approaches. Core modules include Anatomy and Physiology, Cellular and Molecular Principles of Life, and Diagnostic Imaging and Radiotherapy for Cancer, subject to final approval for 2025/26.
