About the course

Our BA in English Literature invites students to explore a diverse array of global writers and historical periods, from the Middle Ages to the present day. This programme deepens your understanding of familiar authors and genres, such as Shakespeare, Dickens, Plath, and Beckett, encompassing tragedy, Gothic literature, and more. It also introduces new areas like children's literature, publishing studies, and the history of the book. Supported by academics with expertise in medieval poetry to contemporary American fiction, you will cultivate your own literary passions.
