Our BA in Creative Writing and Theatre programme allows you to refine your writing skills while exploring the intricate relationship between live performances and audiences. Delivered jointly by the Departments of English Literature and Film, Theatre and Television, the course involves working in small peer groups to develop your creative writing, analysing theatre as entertainment, a theoretical discipline, and an art form, and gaining opportunities for practical theatre training. The complementary nature of these fields means that studying dramatic works and creative decisions will enhance your own writing, while optional practical exercises help build compelling characters and narratives.Sample modules, subject to final approval for 2025/26, include Introduction to Creative Writing, Analysing Theatre and Performance, Identity, Performance and Culture, Directing and Dramaturgy, Creative Research Project, and Performance and Design.
