About the course

Acquire the expertise needed for a career in animal sciences through our BSc in Bioveterinary Sciences. Bioveterinary scientists are crucial in tackling societal challenges, including enhancing sustainability and food security by optimizing the health, welfare, and management of farmed animals; applying scientific methods to the health, welfare, and behaviour of domestic and captive populations; and conducting research at the intersection of animal biology, veterinary science, and management. At the University of Reading, students develop specialized knowledge, research skills, and laboratory techniques to address global issues, with a strong foundation in biosciences and animal function from molecular to whole-animal levels. The programme includes modules approved in principle for 2025/26, such as Animal Anatomy, Physiology and Nutrition; Animal Behaviour, Welfare and Ethics; Veterinary Health and Disease; Zoo and Exotic Animal Science; Advanced Livestock Production and Product Quality; and Companion Animal Science. These are subject to final university approval and potential changes, so please check the course page for the latest details. The university cannot guarantee availability of all optional modules.
