About the course

Our BA in Art and Creative Writing is a four-year joint honours programme designed to nurture your development as an artist, curator, and writer. This course integrates recent advancements in art and culture, allowing you to explore new digital platforms, deepen your knowledge of contemporary literature and art theories, and refine your art writing skills. The synergy between art and creative writing enriches both disciplines, inspiring your own practice through engagement with theories and practitioners. At the Reading School of Art, you'll experiment with diverse media and emerging forms, collaborating with artists, curators, and researchers. You'll have access to 24/7 studio space and opportunities for exhibitions and public commissions. Creative writing is delivered by our Department of English Literature, featuring workshops led by prize-winning authors to build confidence through peer feedback. Core modules include Art Studio, Drawing, Introduction to Creative Writing, and Poetry in English, subject to final approval. For more details, visit our programme page.
