About the course

Our BA in Archaeology and Anthropology explores human origins, cultures, and societies from ancient times to the present. This degree integrates archaeology, which studies material evidence of the past and present, with anthropology, focusing on human development and contemporary cultures. Together, these disciplines offer insights into what it means to be human, helping address key global challenges such as environmental change, inequality, migration, population growth, health, and sustainability.By examining human behaviour and cultural responses to issues, you'll gain a deeper understanding of historical and modern solutions. A professional placement in your third year enhances employability by applying academic knowledge. The University of Reading ranks in the top 100 worldwide for Archaeology (QS 2023), with 100% student satisfaction in teaching (National Student Survey 2023). Core modules include Revolutions and Transitions, Archaeology Today, and Contemporary World Cultures, subject to final approval. Visit our website for details.
