Geography, BA (Hons)

Our BA (Hons) Geography degree examines the impacts of human activities on societies, mobilities, and environmental governance, while aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. Set in Plymouth's vibrant urban and natural landscapes, the program offers flexible pathways, allowing students to select physical geography modules alongside human geography options. Teaching emphasizes innovative, student-centred methods, including lectures, seminars, practicals, fieldwork, and Geographical Information Systems training. Opportunities include international exchanges, work placements, and career-focused support to enhance employability in diverse sectors.In the first year, modules introduce key developments in human and physical geography through fieldwork and lab work. The second year deepens knowledge with optional modules and overseas field courses, while an optional industry year provides practical experience. The final year features a dissertation on any geography aspect, alongside elective modules. The course is accredited by the Royal Geographical Society but does not award Qualified Teacher Status.
