This distinctive course examines the influence of religious and ethical traditions on creative expression, covering historical evolutions and modern topics such as the media's role in shaping perceptions of religion, the Bible's impact on art, music, and film, and how fantasy and science fiction authors address ethical ideas. Our faculty, comprising theologians, philosophers, biblical scholars, historians, and sociologists, offer diverse perspectives to enhance your skills. Students are encouraged to explore theological concepts through creative mediums like video and art, fostering participation in a vibrant, supportive community dedicated to advancing intercultural understanding.The initial two years blend core and elective modules, providing a strong foundation in cultural and ethical aspects of religion while allowing choices based on personal interests, including options to study Biblical Greek and Hebrew. In the final year, a core dissertation enables in-depth research on a chosen topic with staff guidance, complemented by optional modules reflecting current academic research.
Your first two years are a combination of core and optional modules. You'll get a solid foundation in essential thinking around culture and ethics in relation to religion. You'll also be able to choose topics that grab your interest or expand your existing knowledge. If you want to can take the opportunity to learn Biblical Greek and/or Hebrew. The third year has a core dissertation that allows you to write an in-depth piece on a subject of your choosing, supported by a member of staff. The rest of your year is built from optional modules based on the latest research interests of our academics.
