About the course

The BSc in Finance, Accounting and Management emphasizes the contemporary business environment, providing a strong foundation in key areas such as business finance, financial and management accounting, and business law. This program builds a comprehensive educational base to prepare future business leaders, allowing students to pursue their interests through a variety of optional modules from within or beyond the Business School. Opportunities for international exposure include studying at campuses in China or Malaysia, while a four-year option with a placement year offers practical experience, ensuring graduates emerge with the skills and confidence to excel in their careers. The curriculum begins with first-year modules in economics, organisational behaviour, accounting, finance, business computing, law, and quantitative methods, fostering a holistic view of management. In the second year, students deepen their expertise in finance, accounting, and management, with flexibility for electives. The final year focuses on advanced topics like corporate reporting, management accounting, business ethics, sustainability, and financial markets, with additional options to customize the course to individual career goals.

What you will learn

In your first year, you will be introduced to the underlying core management disciplines of economics, organisational behaviour, and accounting and finance. You will also take core modules in business computing, law, and quantitative methods. Overall, the first year equips you with a rational-economic, organisational and accounting/financial perspective of management and organisations. The second year of the course allows you to develop specialist knowledge in finance, accounting and management by building on your first-year studies. The second year also provides an opportunity to develop your particular interests through optional modules within or outside the Business School. In your final year, you will study four core areas in depth: corporate reporting and analysis, management accounting, business ethics and sustainability, and financial markets. There are also more opportunities for you to tailor the course to your interests and career aspirations through optional modules.
